When you get the itch to get out of town and take a little getaway, to disconnect and surround yourself with quiet, woodsy scenery, there’s no better place than the Dragonfly Yurt in Eugene, Oregon!

You’ll have the feeling of being in nature, away from the hustle and bustle – while still having all the amenities you need (and some that are just nice to have, like the hot tub!).

My girlfriend and I stayed at this adorable yurt in the forest of Oregon, and this guide will tell you all about our experience – and how you can book the yurt for a getaway of your own!

About the Dragonfly Yurt

The Dragonfly Yurt in Eugene, Oregon is owned by Melissa and Trip – a super sweet couple who have a log house on the property. You can book it through Hipcamp, which is a website similar to Airbnb, but with camping and glamping sites! The hosts make sure that everyone feels included and safe, and their listing reflects that – booking places to stay in the more rural parts of the country can be a little iffy sometimes, but I felt 100% comfortable coming here as a queer couple.

Getting to the Dragonfly Yurt in Eugene, Oregon

You’ll get the exact location and directions to the Dragonfly Yurt after you book it, but here’s a little bit of info about getting there, so you know what to expect!

The yurt is actually located a little south of Eugene, Oregon, in the cute town of Cottage Grove. To get to the yurt, it’s an easy drive into the neighborhood, where you’ll turn into the driveway of Melissa and Trip’s property. You’ll go a short way past the main house, to a designated parking spot marked with a dragonfly flag!

Once you’ve parked, there’s a well-lit dirt path to the yurt – it’s just a few feet away, enough to give you some privacy while still having easy access to your car if you need to grab something.

Inside the Dragonfly Yurt

There’s a little deck outside the yurt, with chairs and a table perfect for enjoying a cup of tea or coffee in the morning! When you go inside, there are two doors – a screen door, perfect for warm days when you can get some fresh air and let the sunshine pour in, and a second door that you can close to keep the warmth in.

The walls of the Dragonfly Yurt have some windows as well, which can be unzipped from outside. When you unzip them, there’s a vinyl cover, which means even if it’s raining, you can open up the windows for views of the trees! In good weather, there’s also a screen so that you can roll up the vinyl too. On the ceiling, you’ll find a skylight!

You’ll find literally everything you could need for your getaway inside the Dragonfly Yurt! There’s a spacious bed with a Sleep Number mattress, an additional futon if you need another bed, a coffee table, foldable tables and chairs, a TV with an HDMI cable, a Wifi hotspot, a warm electric fireplace and heated blankets, tea, coffee, snacks, and even some dog treats! The hosts really though of everything.

The experience of glamping and staying in a yurt can vary a ton – some yurts are more rustic, while others have more amenities. This one is the latter! You really have everything you need for the perfect weekend getaway. Here’s what you can expect when you stay at the Dragonfly Yurt.

Hot Tub

This one was definitely my favorite! The Dragonfly Yurt has an outdoor hot tub that’s absolutely amazing for relaxing. It’s right next to the enclosure where the goats and chickens roam, and it was really fun to watch the animals :).

Bathroom & Shower

You’ll have a private outdoor bathroom (surrounded by a pop up tent/enclosure for privacy), with a composting toilet and a shower. There’s a water heater too, so you can take hot showers while looking at the stars!

Heat!

If you stay at the Dragonfly Yurt in cooler weather, heating is super important, since it’s made of canvas! But, you don’t need to worry at all – there’s an electric fireplace that keeps the space perfectly warm, and even a few heated blankets if you like to be extra toasty.

Fire Pit & Camping Gear

The Dragonfly Yurt is the perfect place to enjoy the outdoors, and with the fire pit, camping chairs, and the hammocks hanging in the trees, you’ll have a totally relaxing experience!

Kayaks

Cottage Grove Lake is close by, and if you want to get out on the water, you can rent a kayak from the hosts for a small fee. They have 1 hard kayak, and 2 inflatable ones!

Cooking Supplies

The Dragonfly Yurt in Eugene, Oregon also has everything you need to cook while you’re there. The kitchen area is outdoors, with a grill, cooler, hot plate, and a sink – in the yurt you’ll also find a small camping stove with propane, dishes and utensils, a pour over set for coffee, and a tea kettle!
